Thinking Critically About Peer Review
The type of peer review we do in class is effective because my peers help me think of stuff i might not be able to find myself. They put good criticism on my paper. Although i might not always agree with the changes, i do always take it into consideration. Peer reviewing others people paper one can always find an error that the writer didn't notice and help them correct it. Peer reviewing has help me a lot in making my papers more understandable to my readers. My strengths in peer reviewing would have to be that i am able to make good corrections on someones paper, but not criticize the writer. My weakness would have to be that sometimes i might not be a good peer reviewer because i might not find a lot of mistakes on a paper, yet i do wanna help the best i can. The way peer review can be improves is if peer review was in smaller groups because i am sometimes not comfortable working in large groups. i am able to speak more clearly if the the group is smaller. I would also like a little more time on peer reviewing but then again the time get now is enough time.

A Choice In Topics
What i have enjoyed so far in my college experience would have to be the community most of the people i have met in my classes have been really nice towards me and treat me with respect. Another thing i have enjoyed so far in my college experience would have to be my classes. i have really like my teachers, and some of the things i am learning are new to me but are also very interesting. For example, my survey of psychology class i have learned about sleeping disorders such as sleep walking, and insomnia. I have also learned the different types of rocks such as sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous in my FYE class;Chicago rocks. i have also learned how Chicago used to have tropical weather until a glacier hit it and eventually the glacier melted shaping the land differently. all of these classes are new to me that my old high school didn't offer. i also have enjoyed the gym in neiu it is fun to go when you just want to play a sport and kill time. What i have enjoyed the least in my college experience would have to be how sometimes if am not careful my homework can pile up on me really quick. this is a problem since i been known to procrastinate on assignments and homework. there isn't much that i haven't liked about my college experience, although i wish sometimes i was more involve into the neiu community but sometimes it is hard since i don't know many people. i guess in time i would try to get more involve like joining a club but there is always time and am in no rush.

Thinking about Arguments
In the article "Don't Presume to Know a Pig's mind" by Tarkio, Mo it talks about how a commercial from chipotle Mexican grill is starting to make farmers think twice about how they are raising there pigs and even how they are raising other farm animals they have. In the article the author makes an arguments about how chipotle claims to only use happier pigs, yet they don't explain how they know if the pigs are happy and how do they measure their happiness. he claims that there is no way to measure the happiness of a pig and the only thing we can agree on is that pig production shouldn't cause pain "needless pain" to the pigs. he then goes on by saying that we don't know for sure if pigs aren't happy living inside a warm, dry building, and in the end it doesn't matter because the pig end up on a plate. the article then states that after the commercial ran mcdonalds made an announcement on how they would make their pork supplier end gestation crates, but then argues on how those crates are meant to feed the pigs equally because when they are put on grouped pens the pigs are known to be aggressive and start fights so they can eat most of the food. in the end he talks about how we cant ask pigs which life style they prefer the only thing we do know might happen is that the price of pork will rise, and although many companies might be able to afford the changes or at least have the political sway to resist them , small farmers raising hogs now will be push out of the industry. farmers are business people who responds to market signal but they are being mixed because some say we need to produce more as prices and world hunger are increasing, yet others are disputing over the animal cares and want plentiful and affordable food supply.
i chose this article because it interested me. the author of the article made good points on the issue at hand. i think i might do ok writing on the topic yet i might come across some problems. i mostly chose this article because the title caught my attention. i wanted to keep on reading and understand what the title meant. in the end the article was interesting and i didnt know this issues was happening and would like to analyze it further.

Reflecting on Progress
Looking back on my first blog post i think i am making progress on some of my goals. I have notice some improvements on my writing compare to what it was coming into the class. i think i understand better the grammar mistakes i make while writing my papers which helps me identify them and correct them. i might not always catch every single mistake but most of the time i feel like i can identify my grammar mistakes on my paper. The thing i belief i haven't improve on my writing is how i start my papers i always have a tendency to not get to the point quick. i tend to put a lot of hooks to try to catch the readers eye and sometimes i don't explain my thesis clearly. Peer review has helped me a lot. My peer reviewer always has something to say that helps me out. peer review helps me understand how people look at my paper and if what i wrote makes sense. it helps me understand the reader and helps me improve my paper as well as my writing. at first i didn't like peer review but not as i am getting out of my comfort zone i realize that peer review is a benefit i should take advantage of. i will help me grow and become a better writer at the end. although i haven't completed my goals fully i know i am on my way and i know i will try my best to get better at my writing skills.

Responding to Peers and Considering Rhetorical Situations
In my literacy narrative i was writing a story with vivid detail on my process of literacy. In my ad analysis essay i am going to break down the ad detail by detail and analyze it to see what it is trying to tell me. Like my narrative essay my analysis essay will have a purpose as in why i am writting this and where is my stance on the issue. In my narrative essay my audience were my teacher, peers, and people who can relate to my essay it was very general, unlike my ad analysis essay it will probaly only target a certain type of audience. In my narrative essay my genre was written like a story and in my ad analysis it will probaly be more breaking down ideas and explaning. in my narrative essay my tone was changing depending on the situation i was, unlike my ad analysis will probaly have to have a tone as if i am arguing and explaining what the ad is about and what it's purpose is.

Analyzing an Advertisement

Purpose: By showing showing 2 legs and one of them being a prosthetic leg and showing "Don't Drink and Drive" in big capitalize letters this ad shows a purpose to prevent drivers from "Drink and Drive". It argues that when car accidents happen because of drinking and driving it can lead to people being left without limbs and have to use prosthetics which are not as original as those for cars.
Audience: By showing only legs and not showing the age, or sex of the individual this ad is meant for everyone who is a driver. it is showing that it doesn't matter who you are, and that if u drink and drive you can end up in the same situation as the individual in the ad.
Genre: like many ads of drinking and driving this ad shows what tragedy can happen if you drink and drive. Drinking and driving can end up in you getting a ticket, going to the hospital, or even death.
Tone: by the use of artificial limb and the white background it all creates a tone of being sad such as being in the hospital.

Thinking Critically about revisions
There many ways my final paper looks different from my rough draft. First by just looking at it i can tell that my final paper is a little bit longer. Some paragraphs i made longer to explain in more detail what i was talking about. In my rough draft i was just writing my ideas down and putting them together because i just wanted to finish my paper. In my rough draft i can see that i wasn't so sure how i wanted to present my information i just wanted to get something down on paper to see where i could make some changes. For my punctuations i can see that i didn't really changed a lot because it was the least of my issues that i wanted to work on. I can also see that i didn't change my title which i probably should have, but i am horrible with putting titles on my papers so i left it the same.
I made major revisions toward my paragraphs i changed my conclusion a lot i tried to ends my paper without trying to lecture my reader, but i might have done that unintentionally. i also fix some grammar mistakes on my introduction but overall i found it to be good. i also tried to add some more information to my other paragraphs. i also kind of tried to change my wording on my paragraphs to give them a sort of flow when reading. i tried to make them closely related so readers can know what i am talking about.
After revising my pattern the error i tend to see was that i tend to make grammar mistakes and don't use a lot of complex sentences. i don't always put comma after fanboys and sometimes i make comma splices. I also notice that my organization isn't always the best. I tend to jump all over the place and don't organize my paper.
I made the revisions i made because of peer review. i know that peer reviews are to make me a stronger writer. i know that my peer reviewer made some good points on my faults on my paper. he helped me make my paper stronger and even gave me good input.
i think that the strongest aspect on my paper were the introduction and my conclusion. i think it really grabbed readers attention and could relate. my weakest aspect was my punctuations and my organization.
